    Seasonal Checklist

    🇦🇺 Australia version

In Australia the seasons run opposite to the northern calendar: Summer is December to February, Autumn March to May, Winter June to August and Spring September to November, the split the Bureau of Meteorology uses. The checklist opens on the season that holds today's month, with the Southern hemisphere switch already on.

    Seasonal Checklist

71 jobs that are worth doing at a particular time of year — across the house, garden, car, money, health and the admin nobody enjoys. Tick them off; the list resets when you want it to.

    Spring

The catch-up season. Undo winter, open the house up, get ahead of the garden before it gets ahead of you.

    Australia rules and figures

    • The Bureau of Meteorology starts its seasons on 1 March, 1 June, 1 September and 1 December.
    • Australian Summer is December, January and February, Autumn is March to May, Winter is June to August and Spring is September to November.
    • Northern Australia has a wet season from October to April and a dry season from May to September.
    • Frost risk in Australia is highest in winter and can run into early spring in the south.

    How the Seasonal Checklist works

The Bureau of Meteorology months pick the open season, so November lands in Spring and July in Winter. The 71 jobs are one fixed library tagged by season name and area, with ticks and added tasks saved in this browser.

    • The lists are Spring 20 jobs, Summer 15, Autumn 19 and Winter 17. The Spring list therefore appears in September to November, not in March to May as it would in the north.
    • The jobs were written once for four-season countries, so some assume a cold house: bleeding radiators, sweeping the chimney and fitting winter tyres sit in the Autumn list. Filter by area or ignore what does not fit your home.
    • Turning the Southern hemisphere switch off moves the open season six months on. That is useful only for planning around a northern trip.
    • The Bureau also describes northern Australia as having a wet season from October to April and a dry season from May to September, which these four lists do not model.

How to use the Seasonal Checklist

    1. Choose the season. Press Summer, Autumn, Winter or Spring. The tile for the current month is open on load, and each tile counts the jobs already ticked.
    2. Check the hemisphere setting. The switch should be on for Australia. Turn it off only to see the season the same month falls in up north.
    3. Filter and tick. Pick an area such as Garden & outside, then press the square beside each job when it is done.
    4. Add your own jobs. Type a task, choose its area and press Add. It goes into the season that is open.
    5. Copy or export. Copy the open season as text, or export every season to CSV when you want a record.

Example: November in Australia: the Spring list

In November the Spring tile is open, since Spring runs from September to November. That makes 20 jobs, made up of 6 for the home, 4 for the garden, 2 for the car, 3 for money, 2 for health, 2 for wardrobe and 1 admin task. The home group includes servicing the air conditioning and checking the roof and gutters after winter. Ticking 4 of the 20 shows 4 of 20 done and 20% on the bar, with the Southern hemisphere switch already on.

When to use the Seasonal Checklist

    • Before the first hot week. In Spring, open the home jobs and book the air conditioning service while engineers still have gaps.
    • A Winter paperwork afternoon. Open Winter and read the admin and money jobs, such as backing up files and checking contents insurance.
    • Preparing the car in Autumn. Filter Autumn to Car and tick the battery, lights and wiper check ahead of the cooler months.
    • Planning around a northern trip. Switch the hemisphere off to see which list belongs to the destination month, then copy it for the trip.

What the Seasonal Checklist does not do

    • The library is written for four-season climates. In tropical northern Australia, where the Bureau describes a wet and a dry season, many Autumn and Winter jobs will not fit.
    • A few jobs assume heating, such as bleeding radiators or keeping heating low when away. They are still listed because the library is not filtered by region.
    • Added tasks join the season open when you press Add, so check the tile before typing.
    • Everything is stored in this browser. There is no reminder, no sharing and no link to dates.

    Questions about the Seasonal Checklist

Which list opens in November in Australia?

Spring. The Bureau of Meteorology counts September, October and November as Spring, so the Spring tile is open and its 20 jobs are shown, unless you pick another tile.

Do I need to touch the Southern hemisphere switch?

Not for Australia. It starts on, and the season names and months already follow the southern calendar. Turn it off only to preview the same month in the north.

Why is there a chimney job when many homes have none?

The library is shared across countries and is not tailored to housing type. Use the area filter, or tick a job that does not apply so Hide done removes it from view.

Does it handle the wet and dry seasons of the north?

No. The four lists follow Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring only. The wet season from October to April is noted by the Bureau but has no list of its own.

Can I keep my ticks on another device?

No. Ticks and added tasks live in this browser's local storage. Use Export to save a CSV copy and keep it wherever you like.
