Seasonal Checklist
🇨🇦 Canada version
In Canada the checklist calls the third season Fall, and it counts Winter as December to February, with December belonging to the following year's winter in Environment and Climate Change Canada's records. The page opens on the season that holds today's month. Each season has jobs for the home, garden, car, money, health, wardrobe and admin.

Seasonal Checklist
71 jobs that are worth doing at a particular time of year — across the house, garden, car, money, health and the admin nobody enjoys. Tick them off; the list resets when you want it to.
The catch-up season. Undo winter, open the house up, get ahead of the garden before it gets ahead of you.

Canada rules and figures
- Environment and Climate Change Canada counts winter as December to February, and December belongs to the following year's winter.
- This page treats Spring as March to May, Summer as June to August and Fall as September to November.
- Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada publishes 30-year averages of the frost-free period, which vary hugely from one region to another.

How the Seasonal Checklist works
Today's month picks the open season: Spring March to May, Summer June to August, Fall September to November and Winter December to February. All 71 jobs are fixed in advance, each with a season and an area, and what you tick or add is saved only in this browser.
- The lists hold Spring 20 jobs, Summer 15, Fall 19 and Winter 17. Each tile shows its own jobs done out of that total.
- Fall is the home-heavy season with 8 of its 19 jobs for the house, including servicing the boiler or furnace, sweeping the chimney and draining outdoor taps.
- Fitting winter tyres sits in the Fall list as a Car job, and an emergency kit for the car sits in Winter.
- The Southern hemisphere switch is off for Canada. Copy builds a plain-text list in which done jobs carry [x] and open ones [ ], and Export writes the four seasons to CSV.
How to use the Seasonal Checklist
- Choose a season tile. Press Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. The tile for this month is open on load and shows how many of its jobs are done.
- Filter the jobs. Pick an area such as Home or Car, and switch on Hide done to leave only what remains.
- Tick jobs off. Press the square next to a job. The progress bar for the season fills as you go.
- Add a job. Type your own task, choose its area and press Add. It is placed in the open season.
- Copy or export. Use Copy for a text checklist or Export for a CSV of all four seasons.
Example: October in Canada: the Fall list, Home jobs only
In October the Fall tile is open, since Fall runs from September to November. Filtering to Home shows eight jobs, among them servicing the boiler or furnace, clearing gutters and downpipes, draining and insulating outdoor taps and sweeping the chimney. Ticking three and switching on Hide done leaves five visible, and the Fall tile reads 3 of 19 done.
When to use the Seasonal Checklist
- Closing up the house in October. Open Fall, filter to Home and tick the furnace service, gutters, outdoor taps and draught-proofing.
- A winter paperwork week. Read the Winter admin and money jobs, such as backing up files and checking home insurance matches what you own.
- Spring catch-up. Open Spring and work through the roof and gutter check, mower service and winter-clothes sort.
- Sharing a list with family. Copy the open season as text for a partner or a relative who helps with the house.
What the Seasonal Checklist does not do
- The 71 jobs are the same across the country, so a prairie household and a coastal one see the same lists. Timing of frost-dependent jobs is yours to judge.
- The checklist has no frost dates. For outdoor planting jobs, look up the average last and first frost for your area.
- Added tasks go into the season that is open when you press Add.
- Ticks live in this browser only, so another browser or a cleared cache starts from an empty list.
When something else is a better fit
- When you want home upkeep tracked by when each job was last done, use the Home Maintenance Reminder.
- When you want sowing months and bed sizes in centimetres, use the Garden Planner.
- When you want ideas for free time rather than jobs, use the Seasonal Activity Suggestions.
Questions about the Seasonal Checklist
Why does the page say Fall rather than Autumn?
Canadian usage and the country settings call September to November Fall, so the tile and the list use that name. The jobs themselves are the same as in an Autumn list.
Which months make up Winter here?
December, January and February. Environment and Climate Change Canada counts December with the following year's winter, which the page follows when it opens the Winter tile.
Does the checklist know my local frost dates?
No. It has no frost data. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada maps average last spring and first fall frost, so look yours up before timing outdoor jobs.
Can I use it to plan for a southern hemisphere trip?
Yes. Turn the Southern hemisphere switch on and the open season moves six months on. Press any tile to pick a season directly.
How do I start the list again next year?
Press Reset on the open season and confirm. It clears that season's ticks, keeps a saved version, and leaves your own tasks untouched.
