    Currency Converter

    🇮🇳 India version

Indians pay for software, fees and travel in US dollars often enough that a quick rupee conversion matters. This converter opens on rupees against US dollars, fetches daily rates when the page loads, and says so when a stored table is used.

    India rules and figures

    • The first pair shown to Indian users is rupees into US dollars.
    • Should daily rates fail, the tool turns to a table from early 2024 with 83.25 rupees per US dollar.
    • MRP in India includes GST, which has slabs of nil, 5%, 18% and 40%.
    • The standard GST rate for most goods and services is 18%.

    How the currency converter works

Each currency has a figure per US dollar, and conversions go through the dollar. The rupee figure is large, so rupees to dollars divides by a number in the eighties.

USD = INR amount ÷ INR per USD; exchange rate = 1 ÷ INR per USD

    • The opening pair is INR to USD, and the From menu can be changed to any listed currency.
    • A working fetch shows Daily rates in the badge, and a failed one shows Built-in table (early 2024).
    • The stored table lists 83.25 rupees per US dollar, so 50,000.00 INR gives 600.60 USD there.
    • Amounts in rupees follow Indian digit grouping, as in ₹1,00,000.00.
    • Quick Conversions lists eight preset amounts for the pair.

How to use the currency converter

    1. Enter an amount. Type the amount in the Amount box. The default is 100, and the Quick Conversions grid lists eight preset amounts for the same pair.
    2. Choose the currencies. Pick the From and To currencies from the menus; use the arrow button between them to swap the pair. Until you pick, From is your country's currency.
    3. Read the result. The Conversion Result card shows the converted amount, the exchange rate and its inverse. The Copy button puts the line on the clipboard; the line under the card shows when the rates were updated.
    4. Keep or compare pairs. Add to History records the conversion, Add to Favorites keeps the pair, and the Compare tab lists every currency's rate against USD.
    5. Do arithmetic first. On the Calculator tab, use the keypad, then press Use in Converter to send the result to the Amount box.

Example: 50,000.00 INR to US dollars from the fallback table

The stored table is used here, not a current rate. The table uses 83.25 rupees per US dollar, so 50,000.00 INR works out at 600.60 USD. Beneath it, 1 INR = 0.012012 USD appears as the rate and 1 USD = 83.250000 INR as its inverse. A successful fetch swaps in the provider's daily figures and the result changes.

When to use the currency converter

    • Paying a foreign subscription. Enter the dollar price and read it in rupees.
    • Planning study or travel costs. Convert a budget and use the grid for round figures.
    • Reading a freelance invoice. Type the US dollar fee and swap the pair to see it in rupees.
    • Comparing prices in two shops. Convert each into rupees and compare.

What the currency converter does not do

    • Rates are daily mid-market figures and not what a bank or card charges.
    • The fallback table dates from early 2024 and may be far out.
    • Only 14 currencies and two cryptocurrencies are available.
    • No GST, foreign-exchange fee or remittance tax is included.
    • Export Data does not include the rate table.

When something else is a better fit

    • When you are sending or paying real money abroad, use the rate quoted by your bank or remittance provider.
    • When you want to convert while travelling, use the Travel Currency Converter.
    • When you need GST out of a converted MRP, use the Discount Calculator.

    Questions about the currency converter

What pair opens first on the Indian page?

Rupees to US dollars. Change either menu and the choice overrides the default.

What is the Built-in table badge?

It means daily rates could not load and the tool is using approximate figures from early 2024.

How do I convert rupees to dollars?

Divide by the stored rupees per dollar. At 83.25, 50,000.00 INR becomes 600.60 USD.

    Does the result include GST?

No. The converter changes only the currency. An MRP already includes GST at its slab rate.

Will a bank give the same figure?

No. Banks and card issuers quote their own rate with a margin, while this page shows a mid-market daily rate.
