    Fuel Cost Calculator

    🇮🇳 India version

Indian drivers talk about mileage in kilometres per litre, and petrol is priced in rupees per litre that differ from city to city. This version opens in km per litre, fills in the latest published Delhi petrol price from PPAC, and prices one journey for every car you add, with an electric option.

    India rules and figures

    • India sells petrol and diesel by the litre, and kilometres per litre is the everyday mileage unit, so the tool starts in km/L.
    • PPAC listed the Delhi petrol retail selling price at an IOCL outlet as 102.12 rupees per litre on 6 November 2026.
    • The Bureau of Energy Efficiency states fuel standards in litres per 100 km, and no official page for km/L labels was found.
    • Prices in the boxes are in rupees, and large amounts are grouped the Indian way, with the first comma after the thousands and the next after each two digits.

How the fuel cost calculator works

Mileage in km/L is turned into litres per 100 km by dividing 100 by it, then scaled by distance and the road factors. Multiplying by the price per litre gives rupees.

    L/100 km = 100 ÷ km per litre; litres = L/100 km × style × conditions × km ÷ 100; cost = litres × price per litre

    • The starting trip is 500 km for 2 people: Our car at 13.3 km/L, The big one at 8.7 km/L, both at 102.12 per litre, the Delhi petrol retail price on 6 November 2026.
    • Pump prices differ between states because of local taxes, so the Delhi figure is only an example for the city it names.
    • An electric model is assumed to draw 17 kWh per 100 km at a placeholder ₹8.00 per kWh; use your DISCOM tariff or public charger rate instead.
    • CO₂ is counted at 2.31 kg per litre of petrol and 2.68 for diesel, with an electricity grid figure of 300 g per kWh that you can edit.

How to use the fuel cost calculator

    1. Check the mileage unit. India starts with kilometres, litres and km/L. Choose another set in Units when a brochure gives L/100 km or mpg.
    2. Fill in the trip. Type the distance and the people in the car. Pick Return trip for a to-and-fro journey, since it doubles the kilometres.
    3. Set your city’s price. On Compare vehicles, replace the Delhi price with your local rate per litre, and enter each car’s km per litre.
    4. Add traffic and terrain. Choose stop-start for city traffic or hilly for ghat roads. Hard air conditioning has its own entry.
    5. Compare with electric. Add vehicle, switch it to Electric and enter the tariff. The table then ranks every vehicle for your trip.

    Example: 500 km at 13.3 and 8.7 km/L, Delhi petrol at ₹102.12

500 km in Our car at 13.3 km/L needs 37.59 litres. Priced at the Delhi petrol rate of ₹102.12 a litre on 6 November 2026 (PPAC), the fuel costs ₹3,839.10, which is ₹1,919.55 each for 2 people, with 86.8 kg of CO₂. The big one at 8.7 km/L needs 57.47 litres and costs ₹5,868.97. An electric car at 17 kWh per 100 km uses 85.00 kWh at ₹8.00, so ₹680.00.

When to use the fuel cost calculator

    • Delhi to Jaipur drive. Enter the distance, list your car’s km per litre, and see the petrol cost and each passenger’s share.
    • Petrol versus diesel hatchback. Add both with their own mileage and the petrol and diesel rates for your city to see which is cheaper per trip.
    • Considering an electric car. Switch a vehicle to Electric, enter your home tariff per kWh, and compare it with the petrol car over a year of trips.
    • Ghat and highway routes. Use hilly conditions and a steady highway style to see how terrain changes the litres for the same distance.

What the fuel cost calculator does not do

    • The style and condition factors are rough multipliers applied equally to every vehicle. They are not measurements of your car.
    • Costs cover fuel or electricity only: no tolls, parking, wear, depreciation or charging losses beyond the consumption you enter.
    • Each vehicle has one fuel price and the CO₂ figures are tailpipe estimates from fixed constants, with a single grid intensity for all electric vehicles.
    • The cost split between passengers is always equal, and hybrids and plug-ins are not modelled.
    • Settings are not saved; reloading restores the three starting vehicles. The built-in pump price is a national average from an official page on the date shown, not the price at your station, and some countries have no single published average, in which case you enter it.

When something else is a better fit

    • When you do not know the distance yet and need a straight-line or road estimate, use the Distance Calculator.
    • When you want fuel as one line in a whole trip budget, use the Trip Planner.
    • When you need real consumption for a particular route and load, use your car's trip computer or a full-tank fill-up record.

Questions about the fuel cost calculator

What does 500 km cost at 13.3 km/L?

37.59 litres, so ₹3,839.10 at the Delhi petrol price of ₹102.12 on 6 November 2026. Two people sharing pay ₹1,919.55 each. Change the price for your own city.

Why does the price differ in my city?

Retail prices vary by state because of local taxes and freight. The built-in figure is the Delhi price from PPAC for one date, so type your local rate into each vehicle’s price box.

Can I enter mileage in L/100 km?

Yes. Pick the unit set with L/100 km in Units and the km/L you typed converts first. A 13.3 km/L car is about 7.5 L/100 km, which many foreign brochures use.

How is an electric car compared?

Set a vehicle to Electric and give its kWh per 100 km and your rate. The default of 17 kWh and ₹8.00 gives ₹680.00 for 500 km, against ₹3,839.10 for the 13.3 km/L petrol car.

    Does it include tolls?

No. Only fuel or electricity is counted, so FASTag tolls, parking and wear are left out. Add them yourself to the total when you split the cost between passengers.
