India rules and figures
- In the IMD's four-season split, Winter is only January and February, while Pre-monsoon runs from March to May.
- The IMD gives the South-west monsoon four months, June to September, and Post-monsoon three, October to December.
- Another IMD name for Post-monsoon is the retreating south-west monsoon.

How the seasonal activity suggestions tool works
India uses 20 season-specific ideas plus the 14 any-season ideas from the main list, 34 in all. A season button keeps its five ideas and the 14, and the other filters narrow the result.
- Each season shows 19 ideas before other filters: five for that season and the 14 any-season ones.
- There is no Southern switch for India, because the seasons are the IMD's own and not a northern pattern shifted by six months.
- Cost has three bands and the length filter keeps ideas of 45, 90 or 180 minutes or less.
- Saved hearts and ticks are kept in this browser, and a seeded shuffle orders the results.
How to use the seasonal activity suggestions tool
- Choose a season. Press one of the four buttons. The page selects the one that holds today's month.
- Narrow the ideas. Open the drop-downs to pick indoors or outdoors, a kind of company and a cost band.
- Limit the time. Choose a cap such as Under 45 min if you only have a short break.
- Shuffle and save. Press Shuffle for another order and heart the ideas you plan to do.
- Copy the list. Copy list turns your saved titles into plain text for a message.
Example: November in India: a Post-monsoon outing with children
In November the Post-monsoon button is selected, with 19 ideas. Choosing Outdoors, With children and Under 90 min leaves three: a visit to a lake or park in the clear air after the rains (90 minutes), starting a winter garden with cool-season vegetables (90) and learning to identify five local birds or trees (45).
When to use the seasonal activity suggestions tool
- A rainy afternoon. Pick the South-west monsoon and Indoors to see hot snacks and rain-watching ideas.
- Escaping the heat. Choose Pre-monsoon to see dawn and evening outings, cool drinks and reading indoors.
- Festival season. Open Post-monsoon to see decorating the home and joining a local festival.
- Cool winter mornings. Pick Winter and Outdoors for a park walk, birdwatching or kite flying.
What the seasonal activity suggestions tool does not do
- The ideas are general. They do not check weather, flood warnings or local events.
- Some monsoon ideas carry a safety note about slippery rocks and sudden rises in water in heavy rain.
- Costs are three bands and have no rupee amounts.

Why are there only 34 ideas for India?
India has 20 ideas written for its own seasons plus the 14 any-season ideas from the main list. Together they make 34, and each season shows 19 of them.
Which season is open in July?
The South-west monsoon, which the IMD sets from June to September. Its five ideas include walking in the first rains and photographing monsoon clouds.
Is there a Southern setting for India?
No. The IMD seasons are not a shifted copy of the northern ones, so the setting is hidden. Press any season button to see its list.
Which ideas carry a safety note?
Visiting a waterfall or green hillside says to check conditions first, because slippery rocks and sudden rises in water are dangerous in heavy rain. Foraging and swimming notes belong to the main list only.
