Seasonal Checklist
🇮🇳 India version
India has four seasons in this checklist, as the India Meteorological Department defines them: Winter in January and February, Pre-monsoon from March to May, the South-west monsoon from June to September and Post-monsoon from October to December. Each season has its own jobs, from waterproofing the terrace before the rains to clearing drains once they arrive.

India rules and figures
- The India Meteorological Department splits the year into Winter in January and February, Pre-monsoon from March to May, the South-west monsoon from June to September and Post-monsoon from October to December.
- The IMD also calls the post-monsoon season the retreating south-west monsoon season.
- Kharif crops are sown with the monsoon and grown from about June to October, according to ICAR.

How the Seasonal Checklist works
Today's month picks the open season from the four IMD seasons, and India uses its own library of 42 jobs rather than the four-season one. Each job is tagged by season and area, and ticks stay in this browser.
- The lists hold Winter 10 jobs, Pre-monsoon 11, South-west monsoon 11 and Post-monsoon 10. The seasons differ in length: the monsoon covers four months and Winter only two.
- Jobs follow the weather: terrace waterproofing and tank cleaning before the rains, drain clearing and damp checks during them, and repainting after the walls have dried.
- There is no Southern hemisphere switch for India, because the IMD seasons are not a northern calendar shifted by six months.
- The Winter list includes a money job to review tax-saving investments before the financial year ends on 31 March. Copy gives a text checklist and Export saves all four seasons to CSV.
How to use the Seasonal Checklist
- Choose a season. Press one of the four tiles. The one that holds today's month is open on load, and each tile counts the jobs done.
- Filter by area. Choose Home, Garden & outside, Car, Money, Health, Wardrobe or Admin, or switch on Hide done.
- Tick jobs. Press the square beside a job once it is done. The season bar and count update.
- Add your own. Type a task, choose an area and press Add. It joins the season that is open.
- Copy or export. Copy the open season as a checklist, or Export every season as a CSV file.
Example: November in India: the Post-monsoon list, Home jobs
In November the Post-monsoon tile is open, because that season runs from October to December. The season has 10 jobs, three of them for the home and two for the garden, with one each for car, money, health, wardrobe and admin. Choosing Home leaves three: repaint walls and fix damp patches once they are dry, clean and service ceiling fans and water tanks, and check doors and windows that swelled in the rains. Ticking all three shows 3 of 10 done.
When to use the Seasonal Checklist
- Getting the house ready before the rains. In Pre-monsoon, filter to Home and plan terrace waterproofing, tank cleaning and the pump check.
- Staying ahead of damp in the monsoon. Open the South-west monsoon list and tick drain clearing, leak checks and moving sockets away from damp walls.
- Tidying money before 31 March. Read the Winter money jobs to see the tax-saving review and the income tax return documents together.
- Sorting paperwork for the wet months. Keep the monsoon admin job in view, which suggests waterproof folders or scanned copies of important documents.
What the Seasonal Checklist does not do
- The IMD seasons are national. Rainfall timing differs by region, so a job placed in the monsoon may fall earlier or later where you live.
- The list is written for a general household, so a flat has no terrace and some tank or garden jobs will not apply.
- Garden jobs mention kharif and rabi sowing only briefly. For crops, use ICAR or state agriculture advice.
- Ticks and added tasks are stored in this browser only, and there are no reminders.
When something else is a better fit
- When you want to log the date of each job and see when the next one is due, use the Home Maintenance Reminder.
- When you want what to sow and harvest by month, with kharif and rabi notes, use the Garden Planner.
- When you want ideas for rainy days or cool evenings, use the Seasonal Activity Suggestions.
Questions about the Seasonal Checklist
Why does India have four different seasons here?
They are the India Meteorological Department's seasons: Winter, Pre-monsoon, South-west monsoon and Post-monsoon. They do not match the northern spring, summer, autumn and winter, so India has its own jobs.
Which list is open in July?
The South-west monsoon list, which covers June to September. Its 11 jobs include clearing drains, checking for leaks and emptying standing water each week.
Is there a Southern hemisphere switch for India?
No. It is hidden for India, since the four IMD seasons are not a shifted copy of the northern ones. Press a tile to see any season.
What does Post-monsoon mean?
It is the season from October to December. The IMD also calls it the retreating south-west monsoon season, and the list covers repairs, sowing rabi crops and getting ready for cooler weather.
Where are my ticks stored?
Only in your browser's local storage on this device. Use Export to download a CSV before clearing browser data or switching device.
