How the Tip and Bill Splitter works

Multiply the entered bill by the tip percentage, add the result to the bill, then divide each of the three figures by the number of diners. Amounts appear in rupees.

    ₹3,600.00 × 1.10 ÷ 6 = ₹660.00 per head at the opening 10%

    • Button choices are 5%, 10% and 15%, and the slider covers 0% to 20%.
    • Badge bands step up through Little or No Tip, Standard, Good and Great to Excellent, which applies only at the 20% limit.
    • If a service charge was added anyway, include it in the bill amount and set the tip to 0%.
    • The Guide tab shows the CCPA wording on service charge and the sources behind it.
    • Prices carry GST inside them, so the printed total is the figure you enter.

How to use the Tip and Bill Splitter

    1. Enter the bill in rupees. Type the total on the receipt, such as ₹3,600.00.
    2. Enter how many are paying. Press plus or minus until the counter shows the group size.
    3. Read each share and share it. Open Breakdown for each person's bill, tip and total, and use Copy Total or Copy Summary to pass it on.

Example: ₹3,600.00 divided among 6 friends

A 10% tip of ₹360.00 lifts the table's bill to ₹3,960.00, and each friend then owes ₹660.00: ₹600.00 for food and ₹60.00 for the tip. Choose 5% and the table pays ₹3,780.00 (₹630.00 each); choose 15% and it pays ₹4,140.00 (₹690.00 each).

When to use the Tip and Bill Splitter

What the Tip and Bill Splitter does not do

    • Every share is equal, even if one person ate more.
    • The page has no GST field, so the percentage applies to the printed total.
    • Shares appear to two decimals and may differ slightly from the total.
    • It cannot tell whether a charge on the bill is lawful.
    • The page keeps nothing after reload.

    • When you want to tip on the amount before GST, use the Tip Calculator with its tax box.
    • When you want to work out a discounted price with GST, use the Discount Calculator.

Questions about the Tip and Bill Splitter

On ₹3,600.00 among 6 people at 10%, each pays ₹660.00.
